March 31 - More Fun with Notes and Rhythms
Second-to-last session with the 11:00am group, including Harmonic Dictation on Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas: Thy Hand Belinda, followed by Sight-Singing on that same work's When I Am Laid in Earth and the first page of J.S. Bach's Cantata No. 140 ("Wachet aut"), with Board Harmony on second page of aforementioned, moving into ii65 harmony (also with a spin on 7th chords in general - I7 and IV7 from Erik Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1 and i7 from George Bizet's Carmen: Habenera). Before this the introduction to Voice-Leading with the 9:30 Theoreticians, with Dictation, Keyboard-Solfege, and Board Harmony on Richard Rodgers's The Sound of Music: Do-Re-Mi, also the latter exercise re Duke Ellingington's Concerto for Cootie, plus a brief spin on Microtonality with Harry Partch's U.S. Highball.
